Intensive agriculture -winter update 2021

So far, from what I have seen, this season is an absolute shambles for Intensive Winter Grazing.

I haven't had to look far to see animals deep in mud and severe impacts on the environment.

Over the past couple of weeks we have been collecting footage of poor farming practices.

What we have captured is damning. Check out the latest news coverage!

IWG is done in places that have too many animals and struggle to grow enough grass to feed them over winter months.

Animals are forced to live in a slurry of mud, excrement and nutrients. When it rains this often ends up choking our streams, rivers and estuaries.

In many cases, if you fix the animal welfare issues you fix the environmental issues (and vice versa).

The delay for change lies with the minister for Primary Industries; Damien O'Connor. He is the only one with the powers to put on-farm animal welfare inspectors into the field, which would help end animals' suffering.

Stay tuned for more updates on this season's IWG campaign, and please share the videos and images to help create awareness and put pressure on industry leaders.

Thanks team,

Geoff Reid
